Sustainability assessment

Materials

The use of natural or recycled materials is a crucial factor. Natural materials are sustainable and renewable, making them an environmentally friendly choice. Recycled materials help reduce the consumption of new raw materials while creating high-quality products. Products made from such materials receive positive reviews.

Country of production

Where a product is produced has a direct impact on CO₂ emissions. If a product is manufactured in a country close to you, transport distances and thus the environmental impact are reduced. Products manufactured in Europe therefore receive a better score than those from more distant regions.

Packaging

The use of plastic in packaging is viewed critically. The less plastic used, the higher the rating. Nevertheless, it is important that products are adequately protected. A simple and effective alternative is the use of cardboard. Innovative, bio-based plastics can also be evaluated positively, provided they are environmentally friendly.

Social impact

The social responsibility of our manufacturers also plays a major role. Some partner companies are already actively taking responsibility by supporting projects to combat plastic waste in the oceans or promoting social employment. Products that work with such manufacturers receive a higher score on our platform.
These points help conscious buyers understand which products are truly sustainable and what positive impact they have on the environment and society.

General Sustainability Statement

Sustainability is important to DAWIS. We're improving step by step while still offering you the quality products you deserve.

It's no secret that the fashion industry has a serious sustainability problem. We're all familiar with the major fashion companies that dump thousands of new items onto the market every week, further fueling the growing problem of overproduction. To illustrate the magnitude: an estimated 21% of textiles produced go unsold. And worst of all? Where the excess stock ultimately ends up remains a mystery in most cases.

Information about production

Every product you see in our catalog is made to order. Once you place an order, we produce it specifically for you. This way, we can avoid overproduction and textile waste, and we're continuously working to make our production even more sustainable.

Information on printing technology and materials

Our clothing designs are created using a variety of techniques. Many of our products are printed using the direct-to-garment (DTG) technique. This involves spraying the ink directly onto the garment and then absorbing it into the fabric. It's like printing on paper, but on clothing. We use Kornit printers, which produce almost no wastewater and consume less energy than industry-standard printers, reducing our environmental footprint.

The printing inks we use are Oeko-TexTM certified, vegan, water-based and free from harmful chemicals.

DAWIS takes sustainability seriously. Therefore, we ensure that leftover ink is properly disposed of according to the ink supplier's guidelines.

Information about embroidery

At DAWIS, we embroider our products with 100% recycled polyester yarn. These yarns are also Oeko-Tex™ certified, meaning they're suitable for adult and children's clothing. Compared to printing, embroidery is generally more durable and creates less waste, as there's no ink residue.

Environmentally friendly product materials

There are many reasons why a product or material can be considered sustainable. Currently, our eco-friendly product collection at DAWIS consists of items made from at least 70% organic or recycled materials, or a blend of these materials. All beauty products in this collection are also certified natural.

Product packaging

A notice:

This information applies to our internal production facilities. Clothing products manufactured in our partner factories may be packaged differently.

At DAWIS, all clothing products are packaged in PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic packaging. The PCR content in the packaging material may vary depending on where your order is printed, but is at least 70%—both for the outer packaging and for shipments containing multiple items.

PCR packaging is made from everyday items like used plastic bags and bottles. This material protects your items just as well as traditional plastic bags. However, choosing PCR instead of first-use plastics reduces the environmental impact of plastic on our planet.
